Nicolina is originally from:
I’m originally from Long Island, NY! I attended college in Florida and then moved to Maryland five years ago for work.
Favorite ecosystem and plant:
My favorite ecosystem has to be Forests – I love trees! My favorite species of tree is the Southern Live Oak. They existed all around my college campus at FSU, and they’ve remained my favorite ever since.
Favorite thing to do when not working:
I like to incorporate movement into my day however possible. Whether that’s going to a workout class, going for a walk or hike, or going on a long bike ride. During the warmer months, I try to be outside as much as possible. I also love to travel – wherever possible, whenever possible. In recent years I’ve been fortunate enough to travel to places like Guatemala, Honduras, Italy, and the UK.
Pets:
My partner and I have two cats! Gus is a four-year-old Himalayan cat, and Tavi is a two-year-old ragdoll. We are absolutely obsessed with them.

Special talent, skill, or passion:
I enjoy anything that allows me to be creative, however, in recent years I’ve really gotten into film photography. Included is a photo I took of Sol Duc Falls at Olympic National Park.
Most memorable experiences in nature:
Prior to starting at Biohabitats, I went on a (semi) solo trip to Washington State. I visited Olympic National Park by myself for a few days while I was there, and it was an incredible experience!
Favorite food to eat or make:
I’m Italian, so I enjoy cooking any type of traditional Italian dish. I love making fresh pasta and sauce. No better comfort!
