Favorite animal is an opossum because they’re the only marsupial in North America, they eat ticks, they can’t carry rabies, and they’re surprisingly cute if you can open up your heart.
Favorite thing to do when not working:
I love a good house project where I can work with my hands! Redoing cabinets, building bird houses, adding wallpaper to spice up the decor- such a thrill.
Role model:
Probably my parents. Their sense of humor, proven resiliency to life’s hardships, and choice to give much of their time and efforts to serving others is truly commendable.
Childhood role model:
I wanted to work at the Australia Zoo with Steve Irwin.
Favorite book or film:
I’m struggling to find a favorite of either so I’ll defer to favorite TV show which is Monk.

Most memorable experience in nature:
One summer night I was camping out on a floating dock with some gals. After watching the stars and stirring up the bioluminescent critters we got nestled in our sleeping bags and ready for some shut-eye, but just as we were drifting off, an exceptionally friendly local alligator—well known to nearby fishermen who used to feed him (booo)—slid into the water and started swimming toward us. We weren’t thrilled, but just before panic set in, a pod of dolphins swam down the creek and circled the dock, scaring away our scaly friend. A saltmarsh miracle.
Favorite food to eat or make:
Whenever my family gets close to a travel window, I love the challenge of trying to clean out the fridge or pantry and make a creative meal without getting more groceries. The meals are often very adventurous and the flavor profiles are unpredictable…
