In 2024, the City of the Dalles, Oregon, implemented multiple critical infrastructure upgrades to their municipal water system. These efforts helped to ensure a more sustainable and reliable water supply for city residents while restoring local fish habitat for resident cutthroat trout.
To help the city understand how fish passage has improved since their completion, Biohabitats conducted fish passage monitoring and reporting for projects associated with the replacement of the water pipeline from Dog River to the city’s storage reservoir. This included the Brooks Meadow Creek Culvert Installation, Brooks Meadow Creek Water Supply Line Installation, and the Dog River Diversion Fish Screening and Fish Passage Improvement Project.
Monitoring activities will be completed annually for the next 4 years to comply with requirements of the city’s fish passage authorizations for the project.
