A Watersheds Bio-Assessment completed by the North Clackamas Watersheds Council (NCWC) in 2020 found there was little to no continuous temperature monitoring underway within the Clackamas watersheds. The absence of this fundamental information made it difficult to prioritize projects that protect fish and their cold-water habitat, or to track long term watershed conditions impacted by restoration, climate change, and urbanization.
Starting in 2025, Biohabitats assisted NCWC with the preparation and deployment of 34 monitoring locations that were planned as part of a stream temperature monitoring program first developed by NCWC in 2022. Biohabitats also conducted mid-season thermistor checks and managed the removal, cleaning, and return of thermistors to NCWC. The monitoring effort is expected to continue through at least 2026.
