The 2025-2026 Resilient Landscape Project arose from the City of Denver Community Planning and Development’s recognition of the need to update landscape and irrigation rules and regulations for development in the face of new state policies. The project also considered potential amendments to the Denver Zoning Code to update landscape requirements to better prioritize climate resilience.
On a team led by Superbloom, Biohabitats helped to evaluate the existing regulatory structure, identify gaps, and provide recommendations for a more integrated approach to landscape guidance in alignment with Denver’s long-term sustainability goals. Biohabitats led the integration of ecological considerations, which included resilient landscape mapping and analysis to evaluate access to green spaces, impervious surfaces, turf areas tied to higher water use, and habitat connectivity opportunity areas.
