Bronson Creek Greenway at Laidlaw (BCGL) is a 25-acre property located on the west slope of the Tualatin Mountains. Occupying a keystone location between the high-gradient streams and habitats of the Tualatin Mountains and the low-gradient wetlands in the suburban Tualatin Valley, BCGL has been managed as an agricultural field for decades. It contains a section of Bronson Creek, wetlands, a man-made pond, and surrounding riparian/upland areas.
Biohabitats led the development and construction of a wetland and pond enhancement plan to improve the ecological function of the site that was degraded by years of agricultural use. Biohabitats constructed wetland channels and swales, broke up drain tiles found while grading, temporarily dewatered an approximately 2-million-gallon pond, and regraded pond banks. Biohabitats also moved an estimated 6,568 cubic yards of excavated soil to be used for grading, created a Site-Specific Safety Plan, and acquired all required local permits.
