Biohabitats, along with sub-consultant Century Engineering, provided the Anne Arundel County Department of Public Works with design and construction phase services associated with the decommissioning of a Natural Resources Conservation Services Maryland 378 pond.
The project involved embankment modification, crest weir design, pipe slip-lining, demonstration and achievement of credit for stormwater quality management, and safe conveyance of the 100-year storm along an unnamed tributary of Dividing Creek through a sand seepage wetland and Step Pool Storm Conveyance System complex. The project also reconnected the tributary to its floodplain, further enhanced nutrient uptake along the stream, stabilized the channel and banks, and improved the system’s ecological functions.
