CAD Designer/Draftsperson - Chesapeake/Delaware Bays Bioregion

Biohabitats is seeking a full time CAD/drafter to join our Chesapeake and Delaware Bay Bioregion team, located in Baltimore.
Primary Responsibilities include:
- Working collaboratively with designers, engineers and landscape architects to develop concept drawings and construction documents for stream and wetland restoration projects.
Candidates must have the following qualifications:
- 2+ years experience in civil/site design;
- Experience with MicroStation V8 and AutoCAD;
- Strong written and communication skills;
- Client centered focus; and
- Unwavering environmental ethic;

Landscape Architects - Chesapeake/Delaware Bays Bioregion & Great Lakes Bioregion

Biohabitats, Inc. is currently accepting applications for candidates with accredited landscape architectural degrees who are sincerely interested in integrated ecology and design on a variety of public, private and institution projects throughout North America. The scale of projects varies from regional watershed management plans, new towns and campuses, to site specific conservation, restoration and regenerative design initiatives.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Researching sustainable design initiatives
- Inventory & analysis of natural/cultural resources
- Developing historical context and precedents
- Participation in workshops/charrettes
- Digital graphic design
- Ecological field work – natural resource inventories/plant surveys, etc.
- AutoCAD
Candidates
must have the following qualifications:
Candidates need not be registered but must have previous professional practice experience of at least 2 years. They should be detail oriented, thorough, and attentive to quality control. They should possess strong graphic capabilities, written and communication skills and candidates must be very knowledgable of natural systems. Most of all, they must possess an unwavering environmental ethic, be enthusiastic, full of initiative, and interested in continual learning.

Ecological Restoration Practice Leader - Chesapeake/Delaware Bays Bioregion

Are you committed to an ecologically sustainable future? So are we! Biohabitats, Inc. is looking to hire a new Practice Leader to head-up our Ecological Restoration services throughout North America. You get to lead and interact with a great bunch of people, help set our strategic direction, and build firm-wide expertise in ecological restoration.
Primary responsibilities include:
The Ecological Restoration Practice Leader will develop a vision and chart a strategy to advance Ecological Restoration in support of Biohabitats’ vision. Our current Ecological Restoration team is highly skilled, motivated and excited to take our current ecological restoration practice to the next level. The Ecological Restoration Practice Leader will lead that effort. The ideal candidate will have the combination of technical, managerial and marketing experience necessary for:
- Business development – Anticipate future trends while vigorously pursuing current business opportunities.
- Knowledge harvesting and sharing – Lead our continuing efforts to build firm-wide knowledge, expertise and proficiency in ecological restoration.
- Mentorship of staff – Inspire and empower staff by creating and sustaining an environment in which individuals can develop both professionally and personally.
- Recruitment – Identify and pursue the best and brightest candidates for Biohabitats.
- Quality Assurance – Exceed client expectations.
- Strategic planning – Assess marketplace and continually align strategic initiatives with Biohabitats’ vision.
- Ecological stewardship – Integrate environmental stewardship into all business practices and project services.
Candidates must have the following qualifications:
The qualified candidate must have proven leadership skills, a minimum of 10 years experience in the ecological restoration or natural resources consulting industry, a B.A. or B.S. (Master’s preferred) in a related environmental science field, and a proven track record in business development and experience in mentoring staff. A strong familiarity with the ecological restoration industry in the US and Canada is preferred. Most of all, they must possess an unwavering environmental ethic, be enthusiastic, full of initiative, and interested in continual learning.
We would prefer the position be located in Chesapeake/Delaware Bays Bioregion office but would be open to candidates from other locations.

Stream Restoration / Water Resource Engineers - Chesapeake/Delaware Bays Bioregion & Southeast Bioregion & Great Lakes Bioregion

Biohabitats is seeking an experienced Stream Restoration Designer / Water Resource Engineers who are sincerely interested in integrated ecology and design on a variety of public, private and institution projects throughout North America. The scale of projects varies from regional watershed management planning to the development of ecological restoration design. We are looking for an individual with strong technical knowledge and practical experience in watershed management and natural channel design principles.
Primary Responsibilities include:
- Watershed management planning
- Developing conceptual restoration design plans including:
- Conducting watershed level inventories and assessments
- Assessing ecological processes
- Applying natural channel design principles to resolution site-specific challenges
- Formulating protection and restoration initiatives
- Preparing final construction drawings, specifications and cost estimates
- Facilitating public outreach
- Construction bid support
- Construction inspection
Candidates
must have the following qualifications:
Candidates must possess an MS + in fluvial geomorphology, water resource engineering or ecological engineering and 5+ years experience in stream/water resource restoration design. They should have a strong familiarity with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, sediment transport principles, and natural channel design. A familiarity with MicroStation V8 and AutoCAD LDD is a plus. Most of all, they must possess an unwavering environmental ethic, be enthusiastic, full of initiative, and interested in continual learning.
