Hog Island and Newton Creek Ecological Restoration Project
Second Public Workshop on May 1, 2007 at WITC
The second public workshop for the Hog Island and Newton Creek Ecological Restoration Project was held on May 1st, 2007 at the Bong Museum. Participants included a wide variety of stakeholders including representatives from Douglas County, City of Superior, WDNR, MDNR, USEPA, West Wisconsin Land Trust, Murphy Oil, and the Lower St Louis River Citizens Action Committee. Biohabitats presented a review of the information gathered at the first public workshop in January, 2007, and demonstrated how this information was synthesized to become the foundation of the Draft Ecological Restoration Master Plan for Hog Island and Newton Creek. The bulk of the meeting was devoted to a presentation and review of the Draft Plan document, which presents specific restoration actions in the project site. Links to the meeting minutes, attendance, meeting handouts, and presentation are included below.
